Wild Rocket presents a night of cosmic music from some of our favourite bands from around the country.
Percolator is an experimental rock band whose blend of hypnotic kraut techno and wall
of shoegazing guitar drones has been compared to Swans with a leaning towards NEU!’s
krautrock driven rhythms. Consisting of John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Bass, Synths), and founding members Eleanor Myler (Drums, vocals) and Ian Chestnutt (guitar vocals), the trio have spent the last 5 years transforming themselves into one of the most intriguing and melodically arresting bands in
Ireland at the moment. Their debut album SESTRA was released on PENSKE Recordings
Based in Dublin, Ireland, Wild Rocket have been developing their combination of heavy psych and kraut-infused space punk for the past five years. Since the release of their debut LP Geomagnetic Hallucinations in 2014, the band has gone from strength to strength, performing at the Distorted Perspectives and Reverberation Festivals in Ireland and the Hostsabbat Festival in Norway. Wild Rocket have shared stages with internationally renowned contemporaries such as Slomatics, Ufomammut, Earth and The Cosmic Dead.
WILD ROCKET have gained a reputation for pummelling and immersive live shows laden with infectious energy. This energy has been captured perfectly on their second album DISSOCIATION MECHANICS, released on ART FOR BLIND Records (July 7th 2017, LP/CD). The record was engineered and produced by the DEAF BROTHERS, having previously worked on acclaimed records from No Spill Blood, Alarmist & Meltybrains?.
Dissociation Mechanics explores themes of deep sea and deep space, the repetitive cycles of depression and the self-destruction of civilisations. The subtext of the album is influenced by the inability of the human race to learn from past mistakes and break calamitous cycles, instead looking to alternate dimensions for escape rather than efforts to change the observed reality. To put it more bluntly, it's all about getting through life with savage riffs.
From a wooden shack on the hallowed ground of Knocknagore, HawkBastard conjure plumed prayers to Puca, swoops of psyched out synth and jagged 6 string mantras driven by hypnotic rhythms. Embrace the Raptor
Tuath is an experimental, electronic rock band with psychedelic characteristics formed in 2014 in Galway. Tuath is mostly based in Donegal.
Tuath have been compared to the fat white family, mad lib, frank zappa,MBV.

Graduated in Electroacoustic Composition, violinist Agathe Max, beside different collaborations (Max Turner-Kuro, Farewell Poetry, Hell & High Water, Sathönay, Duane Pitre, Collectif Prisma…) works on different projects including music and sound design for documentaries, animated movies, short movies, theater, contemporary danse and art exhibition.
Trained in classical music for 10 years, she graduated at the Bourgoin-Jallieu School of Music, France, in 1995. Later on, she got exposed to improvised music and to the experimental scene. Inspired by a world both enchanting and draped in darkness, she has developed a wide range of sound textures, unique and melodious, creating unconventional and magnetic musical pieces reflecting a personality in constant search of rareness in music. Her concerts are a musical gift to many festivals in France and abroad, with enchanting and fascinating performances.
People of Dublin who love a good Table Quiz, Lend us your ears (or eyes)!
Ever since we were a little Taproom we've dreamed of hosting a table quiz. Now that we are a fully fledged Taproom we have decided that our maiden voyage into this unknown abyss should be this day next week; yes, 14 February, St. Valentines Day.
To mark this monumental occasion in both the annual Saints Calendar and the social calendar of course, we've decided to have our first themed quiz, with NO ENTRY FEE for teams.
This quiz shall be titled: Netflix & Chill, and yes you've guessed it, the theme will be.....Casual Sex...ahem, we mean, Netflix.
There will be prizes on the night. The Dubliner Whiskey have said they will give a bottle to the best Team Name...
Want to play? tick 'Going' enrol your team mates, choose a name and let the trash-talking begin!
HEART BEACH play live in the Taproom at Drop Dead Twice, Dublin on the 10th of February 2018.
Heart Beach play sad, girl-guy, 9to5 pop songs. In 2016 the band signed to legendary Australian label Spunk! (Arcade Fire, Akron/Family, Animal Collective, Antony and the Johnsons, Belle and Sebastian, Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, the Libertines, Sufjan Stevens, Sleater Kinney, Mac Demarco, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's) to release their second LP "Kiss Your Face".
Their show at Drop Dead Twice will celebrate the release of their brand new LP "Haircut".
Heart Beach Reviews:
“There’s something very satisfying about a band that limits itself to a simple aesthetic and builds a world with what they have” (Rolling Stone)
“Like The Smiths, like Joy Division, this music is oddly and often wonderfully uplifting. Almost every song starts with a drawn-out chord poignant enough to break Rupert Murdoch’s stony heart. It takes a brave, thoughtful band to sound this vulnerable. Heart Beach are beautiful, beautiful, melancholy babies. Treasure them.” (The Guardian ★★★★)
